Cappy Ann Cappadorkus later Cappy Copperbottom is the tritagonist of Robots and Rodney Copperbottom's love interest and later wife.

Cappy is a member of the Bigweld Industries board, someone who still clings to the company's original values of innovation, filling needs, and shining no matter what you're made of. After Ratchet takes over the company, Cappy becomes uncomfortable with his wicked plans to force common robots to buy upgrades through cutting production of spare parts. Eventually she finds an opportunity to defect from Ratchet and assists Rodney and Bigweld as they try to take down the Chop Shop and reclaim Bigweld Industries.

She is voiced by Halle Berry in the film, who also played Storm in the X-Men film series.

Personality[]

Cappy is a calm, but also strong-willed and clever co-executive at Bigweld Industries. Although she is not nearly as outgoing and vigorous as Piper, she is also not willing to conform to Ratchet's agenda and cannot be intimidated by him like her other co-workers. She is one of the more level-headed and reasonable characters in the movie, and sympathizes with the robots who have been "outmoded" because of the changes Ratchet made to Bigweld Industries. Despite this, Cappy still does nothing to attempt to find Bigweld or solve the mystery of his disappearance. Rather, she passively pretends not to mind the changes Ratchet makes. However, she also does not respond to his constant flirting, and chooses to ignore it. She dislikes Ratchet because of his arrogance and snide attitude toward other robots.

When she first meets Rodney, she takes an instant liking to him because of his enthusiasm for being an inventor and his wish to meet Bigweld. When their paths cross again at the Bigweld Ball, she is once again shown to admire him when he speaks up and loudly questions Ratchet on where Bigweld is. However, this time, she tries to protect him from Ratchet's wrath, even going as far as pretending to flirt with Ratchet so she can help Rodney escape. She also helps Rodney get to Bigweld's mansion, where the two meet him in person, albeit ending in disappointment after Bigweld tells both her and Rodney to leave. After this experience, when Bigweld regains his resolve, Cappy faithfully assists Rodney for the rest of the movie, serving to help him and his friends when they are in danger and openly opposes Ratchet. She joins him and the others for the final battle against Madame Gasket and Ratchet, where they emerge victorious. At the victory celebration in Rivet Town, the two are shown dancing with each other and then embrace warmly.

Appearance[]

Cappy is a beautiful and slender robot with medium-length black hair and emerald-green eyes. Like Ratchet, she is covered in upgrades which give her a polished appearance. Her "hair" can be worn plain or in a bun. She usually wears black or silver "clothes" to match her silver skin tone. In her feet she hides a pair of golden inline skate-like wheels, which she can project at will. She has a rather human like appearance in comparison to other robots.

Role[]

Cappy is a young robot, living, and working in Robot City as Bigweld Industries' only female co-executive. Unlike Ratchet and his sycophants, she sympathizes with the outmodes as their parts are cut off to make way for Ratchet's new plan. She first meets Rodney when he flies in with Wonderbot into the Bigweld Industries Building.

Upon meeting Rodney, she quickly begins to develop a crush on him and wants to keep him and Bigweld out of trouble, especially from Ratchet. She becomes Rodney's ally and companion, serving to help him and his friends when they are in danger. She joins him for the final battle against Madame Gasket, and then eventually, for the celebration at Rivet Town.

Trivia[]

  • Despite having upgrades, at the end of the Robots Movie storybook, the robots are described to have played the most beautiful music without a single upgrade, but Cappy herself is one of the robots the book was referring to.
  • Her name is not to be confused with Mario's Cap (from the 2017 video game Super Mario Odyssey) of the same name.
  • Despite being Rodney's love interest, Rodney is referred to as a 'kid', whereas Cappy literally has one of the highest positions of power in Robot City being a member of the Bigweld Industries board. Now unless she's a teen success story, this has to mean that Cappy is much older than Rodney. Some say a more suitable love interest would've been Piper.
  • In a scene which only appeared in previews, Cappy actually purposely kicks Ratchet twice, meaning there could have been a confrontation scene between the two.
  • Idina Menzel, Kate Winslet, Jennifer Aniston, Jennifer Tilly, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Samantha Mathis, Cameron Diaz, Mandy Moore, Reese Witherspoon, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Anne Hathaway were all considered for the role of Cappy.
  • Cappy of Robots similar to Celia Mae of Monsters, Inc.
  • Cappy of Robots similar to Leah Estrogen of Osmosis Jones.
  • In a deleted scene and the DVD it's revealed that Cappy's father is a vacuum cleaner and her mother was at the attachments. Meaning unlike, Loretta she isn't from a rich family.
  • In the MAD magazines, she and Rodney are married and have a child.
