Chakal is the main antagonist in the animated film, The Book of Life. He was voiced by Dan Navarro.
Background[]
While Chakal's past remains in mystery, he became known as the most dangerous bandit in all of Mexico, as Chakal risen to become the king of the bandits after he stole the Medal of Everlasting Life from the dark one named Xibalba, but ever since Xibalba stole it back from him, Chakal and his army went on a rampage of getting it back, terrorizing many towns of Mexico, including San Angel. But even through Chakal had lost th emedal to Xibalba, he was still nearly impossible to injure. Despite this, he still desired the medal in order to become completely invulnerable again. Therefore, he was ready for a full-scale invasion on the towns of Mexico to find retrieve it. Captain Mondragon who was the father of Joaquin, had battled and lost his life to the cruel bandit possibly during an attack in San Angel.
Role in the film[]
Chakal is first seen in a cave sharping his sword, when Chato rushes in telling him that they find the medal and he then jumped at him and asked if Chato was knew for sure before telling Chato gather the other bandits and ruthlessly kicks him out as he gazes at a drawing of the magic medal which he has been seeking for years. Chakal and his his army were on the move, as they began matching to San Angel, where he fought and killed Manolo's father, Carlos Sánchez. Chakal reached San Angel.
