One of horror maestro Wes Craven's unrealized projects wasn't a horror film at all but rather a family-friendly adventure that he had written in the early 1980's and was hoping to make after his DC superhero film Swamp Thing. Craven's screenplay, of which the first draft was completed before Craven went off to make A Nightmare on Elm Street for New Line Cinema, was entitled Circus Gang, which concerned the crime-solving adventures of a group of kids, all of whom are the children of circus performers. The late great Craven was hoping to have it filmed either by Walt Disney Pictures or by 20th Century Fox, even pitching it to the former as a made-for-television film after having helmed Casebusters for them as such. Presumably, a joint-venture production between the two studios wouldn't be out of the question, given that at the start of the decade, Disney teamed up with Paramount Pictures on Popeye and Dragonslayer.
