"Edelweiss" is a song featured in the 1965 film The Sound of Music sung by Bill Lee as Captain von Trapp and Charmian Carr as Liesl von Trapp. Composed by Richard Rodgers with lyrics written by Oscar Hammerstein II, the song is Captain von Trapp's subliminal goodbye to his beloved homeland, using the flower as a symbol of his loyalty to Austria.

Lyrics

Captain:
Edelweiss, Edelweiss
Every morning you greet me
Small and white, clean and bright
You look happy to meet me
Blossom of snow, may you bloom and grow
Bloom and grow forever
Edelweiss, Edelweiss
Bless my homeland forever

Captain & Liesl:
Edelweiss, Edelweiss
Every morning you greet me
Small and white, clean and bright
You look happy to meet me

Captain:
Blossom of snow, may you bloom and grow
Bloom and grow forever
Edelweiss, Edelweiss
Bless my homeland forever
