- January 17 - The Walt Disney Company announced that they have dropped the Fox name on both 20th Century Fox and Fox Searchlight Pictures and were respectively renamed as 20th Century Studios and Searchlight Pictures. Its logos and fanfare were still kept intact.[2]
- January 28 - Following the renaming of 20th Century Fox to 20th Century Studios and Fox Searchlight Pictures to Searchlight Pictures, its animation arm 20th Century Fox Animation was incorporated and registered legally as 20th Century Animation, Inc.[3]
- May 15 - After the release of The Woman in the Window, Disney will shut down Fox 2000.
- August 10 - The Walt Disney Company announced its three television studio divisions (ABC Studios, 20th Century Fox Television, and Fox 21 Television Studios) under its Disney Television Studios unit were completely rebranded, respectively, as 20th Television, ABC Signature, and Touchstone Television.[4]
