Perseus "Percy" Jackson is the titular protagonist of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians franchise. He is a demigod who discovers that he is the son of Poseidon. He was created by Rick Riordan.

Background[]

Personality[]

Percy is typically portrayed as a good intentioned, if very flawed, young boy. While he is very nice and kind, especially to his mother, he does display a bit of an attitude and can come off as snarky and sarcastic. He tends to act before thinking which gets him into trouble, but he is willing to accept help when offered. Percy has a strong sense of justice and is motivated to doing the right thing despite having to usually endure something unpleasant when doing so.

Physical appearance[]

In the films, Percy is portrayed as a young boy about 16 with black hair and blue eyes, while in the Disney+ series he is around 12 and has blond hair. His physical appearance in the films is closer to the books while his age in the series is more accurate.

Powers and abilities[]

Percy is shown to possess hydrokinesis (the ability to control water), just like his godly parent. Due to having ADHD, he is prone to respond quickly and has acute reflexes that allow him to be proficient in fighting. He also has a sword named Anaklusmos, though he prefers to call it Riptide, that is locked with him so that if he were to lose it, it will show up in his pocket easily.

Trivia[]

  • Percy is named after the Greek demigod Perseus who was the one to defeat the Medusa and was one of the few heroes to have a happy ending.
  • Logan Lerman had nothing, but kind words to share with Walker Scobell over his portrayal of Percy.
  • Coincidentally, both had a missed opportunity to play a Marvel superhero. Lerman was up for the role of Spider-Man in The Amazing Spider-Man, while Scobell almost played Kidpool in Deadpool & Wolverine.
