The Call of the Wild is a 2020 adventure film. It is based on the Jack London 1903 novel of the same name. The film is directed by Chris Sanders, written by Michael Green, and features Harrison Ford, Dan Stevens, Omar Sy, Karen Gillan, Bradley Whitford, and Colin Woodell. The film is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures through the 20th Century Studios subsidiary and was released on February 21, 2020. This is the second film adaptation of Jack London's novel to be released by 20th Century Fox, following the 1935 adaptation.

Synopsis[]

Buck, a St. Bernard/Scotch Collie dog, has been taken from his home in Santa Clara, California, and has been bought by the Yukon freight haulers.

  • Following a studio name change by Disney on January 17, 2020, this is the first film to be released under the 20th Century Studios name.
  • This is the only Non-Blue Sky film that John Powell scored that 20th Century retains the rights to, as How to Train Your Dragon 2 is now owned by Universal Pictures after acquiring Dreamworks Animation in 2016.
  • The character John Thornton is played by Harrison Ford, who is best known for playing Han Solo from the Star Wars franchise and the title character of the Indiana Jones franchise, both are the two most popular franchises created by George Lucas, and his company Lucasfilm.
